Pay Range: $70,000- $90,000 Per Year. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
Knight Insurance Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Underwriter to join our growing property team. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting proprietary policy forms and building property portfolios from the ground up. As a growing organization, we value both technical underwriting and business strategy.
What you'll do as a Senior Underwriter:
The Senior Underwriter will aid the existing property team with the following functions:
- Custom Policy Development: Design and implement insurance policy forms specific to the needs of clients, while at the same time ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Building Property Portfolios: Lead the development of nascent property portfolios. This will mean market research, setting underwriting guidelines, developing pricing strategies and balancing the portfolio towards profitability.
- Business Development: Working with wholesale and retail distribution channels to grow profitability.
Experience and Qualifications
What we look for in our Senior Underwriter:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Underwriter in Homeowners and/or Commercial Property (Habitational).
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Prior experience drafting E&S policy forms that can be used at the organizational level.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g. CPCU, ARe, ARM) are a plus.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing insurance portfolios.
- Proactive, self-starter attitude with profit-drive mindset.
