Job Title: Quality Inspector (2-2-3 Schedule)

Department: Quality Control

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt


Job Summary:


The Quality Inspector is responsible for the proper set-up and operation of the assigned machine in accordance with established procedures; responsible for applying established standards in support of the Quality team to facilitate continuous improvement and ensure the highest quality product reaches the customer.


Responsibilities and Duties
(includes but not limited to the following):

Read orders and schedules to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures for machine setup and inspection.

Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions and to ensure that outputs conform to specifications.

Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures, and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients.

Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.

Separate defective products; report them to the immediate supervisor in case of product or process nonconformity.

Use a variety of tools for inspection including calipers, gauges, and other testing/measurement instruments.

Will perform additional duties as required.

Other duties may be assigned by management, as required


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Exceptional Communication: Including active speaking / listening, reading / writing skills in accordance with standard business practices and decorum; excellent relationship building skills
  • Critical Thinking / Troubleshooting: Using logic and reasoning to identify problems as well as the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusion, or approaches to problems.
  • Details: Must have attention to details for all areas of work, especially in record-keeping and organization of projects; efficient in daily tasks
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, basic understanding of MS Office, and the ability to learn other computer programs
  • Ethical Behavior: Must maintain the highest ethical standards in the conduct of company affairs; must conduct business with integrity and comply with all applicable laws in a manner that excludes considerations of personal advantage or gain.


Education & Experience:

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required
  • Some college is preferred
  • 6 months of experience as a quality inspector in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • 6 months of experience working with hazardous substances strongly preferred


Required Competencies:

  • Ability of using various scientific rules and methods to solve problems
  • Basic knowledge of safety system analysis
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with Supervisors and Associates
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Expert time management skills
  • Teamwork Orientation


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Quality Inspector is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
  • Required to climb, balance, bend, squat, reach, grasp, and hand dexterity. The Quality Inspector must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This position may work with hazardous materials where personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary and specific procedures must be followed to adhere to safety regulations.
  • This position works in a manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • This position may work with hazardous materials where personal protective equipment (PPE), including an N95 or full face respirator, is necessary and specific procedures must be followed to adhere to safety regulations.
  • Must pass a lead exam consisting of a medical pre-screen, PFT (Pulmonary Function Test), and a vision test.


Travel:

There is little travel expected with this position.
