Steel Slitter Operator

Slitter Operator Requirements:

Experience:

• Have a minimum of one year of experience in the operation of a steel slitting machine from manufacturers such as Yoder, Braner, Red Bud, Stamco, etc.
• Understand all control features of a slitting machine, and be capable of operating, setting up, loading, packaging, and unloading.

Technical ability:

• Have the ability to produce, track, and maintain production data.
• Have the ability to enter information into a real time production database using a keyboard.
• Have the ability to write out slitter set ups for width of product considering slitting knife clearance needed vs. steel thickness.
• Have the ability to add, multiply, subtract, and divide numbers and fractions.
• Use a decimal to fraction conversion chart for listing the exact tooling, and shim pieces needed, in order to achieve the desired width of product.
• Have the ability to check slitting knife clearance with feeler gages, and make adjustments to achieve the proper clearance when necessary.
• Have the ability to take quality measurements using calipers, micrometers, feeler gages, and tape measures.
• Have the ability to make machine pressure and speed adjustments depending on product thickness and tendencies.

• Communicate with, and give direction to co-workers in order to achieve an organized team effort.
• This is an actively working job position. Slitter operators help co-workers with all aspects of the slitting process.
• Slitter operators must train others in all aspects of the process.

• Heavy industrial.

Physical Demands:

• Medium, occasional lifting to 50 lbs., climb & balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, finger, feel, talk, hear, see.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
