What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oncology Nurse Navigator position at Hannibal Regional?
The Oncology Nurse Navigator functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator and counselor for oncology patients. Has responsibility for monitoring, coordinating care, and educating cancer patients and families.
- Graduate of approved School of Nursing; BSN required
- Current licensure in State of MO as a Registered Nurse or licensure eligibility required
- OCN certification (Oncology Certified Nurse) or completion within the first year of hire required
- Three years recent oncology nursing experience preferred
- Demonstrates high level understanding of oncology illnesses and treatment modalities
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with the physical and emotional developments of all age groups
- Knowledge of community resources and how to access them effectively and efficiently
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team, including physicians and external customers
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
