What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatic Fitness Instructor position at Hanover Area YMCA?
Position Summary:
Plan and instruct aquatics classes according to YMCA guidelines for the senior members utilizing the recreational pool. Teach and model Character Development traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
Essential Functions:
1. Attend in-service trainings when scheduled.
2. Attend scheduled trainings.
3. Maintain safety of entire class area.
4. Represent good customer service.
5. Teach all assigned aquatic programs according to YMCA guidelines.
6. Be on time and complete time sheets correctly.
7. Be prepared to fill in the absence of another instructor.
8. Follow established guidelines for classes and execute sound judgment.
9. Know emergency procedures and locations of emergency equipment.
10. Fill out accident report if needed and report to director.
11. Help clean up area after classes.
12. Maintain current certifications for employment.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years old. ** (Unless supervisor approval) Must obtain CPR & AED Certifications within 30 days of hire (copies must be given to Aquatics Director). Prefer 3 years’ experience teaching aquatic classes but willing to train the right candidate.
Physical Demands:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities.
Pay starts at $15/hr.
