What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern/Assistant Men's Soccer Coach position at Hanover College?
Job Summary: To assist the head coach in overseeing and developing an intercollegiate athletic program for the remainder of the 2024-2025 academic year. Implement and demonstrate a competitive skill and spirit. Represent Hanover College within the membership of a conference and the governing body of the NCAA.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the head coach with the day-to-day activities of a D-III men's soccer program.
- Assist the head coach with different aspects of on the field coaching, game day assignments and recruiting.
- Assist head coach with responsibility for functioning within a set budget, game and practice preparation, and knowing and abiding by conference guidelines and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Assist head coach in initiating changes that will improve the quality of the program and the experience of the student-athlete.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform general duties to ensure the quality, safety, and the development of the program and the experience of the student-athlete.
- Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the College in accordance with the College's mission, principles, and strategic plan.
- Support and advocate for the College's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, goals, and mission.
- Complete duties as assigned by head coach.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics.
Job Qualifications:
Education, Certifications, Training, Experience:
- Bachelor degree required
- Previous successful college/high school playing and or coaching/teaching experience preferred
- Candidate must be able to demonstrate job-related experience and/or commitment to equity and inclusion in the work environment
Skills, Competencies, Abilities
- Have the ability to coach, teach, and recruit with in the philosophy of Division III athletics anda highly selective liberal arts institution
- Demonstrate knowledge of the game and dedication to the development of the total student-athlete
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good time management skills
- Responsive with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Proficient computer skills
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Climbing of stairs
- Walking to/from buildings, playing fields, across campus, etc.
- Some evening and weekend work as well as overnight and/or out-of-town travel
- Lift up to 25 pounds
