The Hanover County Department of General Services is actively seeking an experienced supervisor for our Facilities Management Division. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day preventative and reactive maintenance while leading a team of Facility Technicians.
General Description: This is a skilled supervisory position. The incumbent performs complex tasks to supervise and manage staff in repair and maintenance of County buildings and equipment.
Organization: The Facilities Technician Supervisor reports to the Facilities Manager and supervises assigned Facilities Technicians.
Essential Functions:
• Supervises employees, performing related human resources functions and completing necessary paperwork.
• Oversees and schedules contractors for facilities projects and repairs work.
• Performs facility assessments and assists management in project planning and budgeting.
• Develop and administers technician work schedules meet workload demands in an efficient manner, to include covering
emergency call outs.
• Ensures the integrity and validity of the Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Exhibits skills and knowledge necessary to perform work as a journeyman mechanic.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have considerable knowledge and skills in HVAC, electrical or similar trade and facility management practices. Requires extensive knowledge of building control systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, telecommunications, and security. Must have ability to read, interpret, and manipulate data and construction drawings. Ability to operate power/hand tools and computerized equipment desired. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Education, Experience and Training: High School diploma required with at least five (5) years of experience in the HVAC field with EPA certification or equivalent. Prefer at least 2 years’ supervisory experience with facility technicians and contractors and coordination of work in automated building operations and maintenance. - OR - Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
