GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for planning, administering and evaluating an efficient operation of the school cafeteria in order to provide appealing and nutritional meals with positive customer service for the students and staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)Provides written and verbal instruction for the day’s duties;Provides required paperwork such as deposit slips, invoices, state reports and timesheets to central office with accuracy and in a timely manner; Maintains cafeteria operation according to local health codes and set food services program; Maintains files of correspondence, policies, inventory and reports; Participates and assist in the selection of cafeteria employees for vacancies in cooperation with the Food Services department;Responsible for training, directing, and evaluating each cafeteria employee in regard to assigned duties and personally assists with those duties as needed;Supervises and evaluates cafeteria work performance; Attends meetings as scheduled by the supervisor and is an active participant in the administrative team; Maintains a favorable financial standing through proper management of all resources and through active promotion and improvement of the food service program;Prepares food and supply orders, receive deliveries and maintain inventory; Prepares and delivers bank deposits; Direct and assist as needed, with cleaning utensils and food service equipment, and assists in maintaining sanitary conditions in the dining areas, kitchen area, cafeteria storage areas, and in compliance with proper sanitation regulations and procedures;Operates and supervises the Point of Service system, meal account reports and closing and cash handling procedures; Works and cooperates with building Principal, Director of Food Service, faculty, students, parents and other school community members to maintain smooth scheduling and operation of the food services area making it an integral part of the total school program;Reports any personnel, facility or maintenance problems immediately;Performs other related duties as required.

Ability to: train, plan work schedules and supervise employees using professional verbal and written communication; estimate quantity and types of supplies needed; understand and follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; supervise and motivate a staff of employees; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; write and maintain routine reports, records and correspondence; apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form and to perform basic math calculations.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: High school diploma or GED. A minimum of two or more years of experience in food service.Preferred: Two or more years of experience in a food service position within a school division.A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical ability to lift at least 35 pounds (50 with assistance) and to push 70 pounds. Exposure to heat and steam. Requires significant climbing, stooping, and kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for extended periods of time. Requires walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Daily contact with principal, school staff, teachers, parents, students and delivery people.Job requires a valid driver's license. Consistent and regular attendance is an essential duty of this position.
