GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides instructional support to secondary students in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps Program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)Assists with instructing cadets in the JROTC curriculum during the school year;Assists in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and the personal growth of students;Assists in evaluating student progress and assists in counseling cadets on their performance in the program;Motivates and encourages students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming responsible citizens;Monitors student movement to ensure safe and orderly environment;Assists in organizing and supervising, as well as, participates in extracurricular activities for cadets including color guard, drill teams and other special activities;Assists with maintaining accurate student records as required with Federal and local policies;Attends staff development programs, department meetings and other professional activities;Sets an example and models a positive attitude, knowledge and skills for cadets;Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proven professional with Supply, JUMS, Wide Area Work Flow experience. Strong computer and administrative skills. Prior Drill and Orienteering experience strongly preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Senior Enlisted Professional for NSI position Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
CONDITIONS: Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and 50 lbs. assisted. Requires some climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. JROTC instructors and assistants are conspicuous military representatives in the civilian community. As such, they are expected to uphold traditional military standards of decorum and personal appearance. Instructors are required to wear the prescribed uniform while instructing and at other appropriate times. Particular attention to the maintenance of proper uniforms and personal appearance standards is essential. Instructors and Assistants must meet the screening tables for weight by height or the percent of body fat standards set in OPNAVINST 6110.1D.
