Parks and Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic leader to oversee creative activities, events, and programs that bring our community together.
General Description : This is a field position. The incumbent performs routine tasks and fieldwork to include planning, implementation and supervision of recreation programs, community events and facilities operations.
Organization : The Recreation Supervisor reports to the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Managers and may supervise Recreation Aides, Therapeutic Recreation Aides, and / or Leaders-In Training.
Essential Functions :
- Assists with the planning and implementation of recreation programs.
- Serves as a leader / facilitator in staff training.
- May assist with the selection of staff.
- Oversees Recreation Aides, Therapeutic Recreation Aides, and / or Leaders-In Training, performing related human resources functions and completing necessary paperwork as needed.
Facilitates staff meetings and training as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Education, Experience and Training : Two (2) years of college and two (2) years of recreation experience are preferred.

Parks and Recreation has year-round, part-time, non-benefited positions available at the Montpelier Recreation Center (15302 Clazemont Road, Montpelier, VA). Additionally, summer camp positions are available at various locations throughout Hanover County.
If selected for a summer camp position, staff must attend a mandatory in-person training from June 2-6, 2025.
