Position Overview: The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and promoting Hanover Iron Works, Inc.'s capabilities in the miscellaneous metals market across the Northeast Region. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in construction, miscellaneous metals, and market development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Analysis:
- Conduct analysis to identify potential clients and emerging industry trends.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide insights into market dynamics.
- Client Acquisition:
- Identify and generate new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and referrals.
- Utilize online platforms and databases to source potential clients.
- Engage with prospective clients via email, phone, or in-person meetings to introduce services.
- Conduct impactful presentations and product demonstrations.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

- Prepare budget estimates and present tailored budget proposals.
- Collaborate with the estimating team to ensure the feasibility of client proposals.
- Participate in the creation of technical proposals and preliminary budgets for design-assist projects.
- Facilitate communication with client and contractor stakeholders during design-assist proposal phases.
- Industry Engagement and Continuous Improvement:
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote services and expand the client base.
- Stay updated on industry developments, regulations, and new technologies.
- Participate in training programs to enhance sales skills and product knowledge.
- CRM and Performance Tracking:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and client interactions in CRM systems.
- Collaborate on the development of CRM systems to streamline operations.
- Analyze sales metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering (preferably Civil, Structural, or Mechanical), Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Equivalent work experience in business development, sales, or the miscellaneous metals industry is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or project management within the miscellaneous metals or construction industry.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to generate leads, close sales, and build lasting client relationships.
- Familiarity with CRM software and online prospecting platforms.
- Knowledge of the miscellaneous metals industry or related sectors is required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Enthusiasm for networking and attending industry events.
- Additional certifications in sales, business development, or marketing (e.g., Certified Sales Professional (CSP), or similar) are a plus.
