About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Miscellaneous Metals Estimator to join our team in Hanover, PA. This role is responsible for researching potential projects, preparing accurate and complete proposals, and collaborating with customers to define project scope. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, specifications, and construction documents while effectively managing costs and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction blueprints, specifications, and other project documents.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for small to large miscellaneous metal projects.
- Determine material and labor costs and input them accurately into proposals.
- Communicate with customers to refine project scope and requirements.
- Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to general contractors for clarification.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers.
- Track and follow up on bids until the project is awarded.
- Analyze bid outcomes and improve estimating strategies accordingly.
- Manage multiple proposals while meeting strict deadlines.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in the steel/miscellaneous metals industry preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
