Hanover Township – Community Health Specialist (PT)
Hanover Township is currently accepting applications to fill a part-time, 20-hour per week Community Health Specialist. The Community Health Specialist will be responsible for promoting community health through the development, implementation, and provision of community health programs and services. A strong focus on health education, community engagement, and event and program coordination and implementation is desired. Responsible for providing direct support services to departmental staff and maintaining a professional image through in-person, email, and telephone interactions. Assists in the development and preparation of administrative materials, health education, and brochures for the department. This position is also responsible for coordinating and scheduling health screenings, planning and organizing events for the department, attending local community health fairs and events to promote the Office of Community Health services.
The Community Health Specialist will provide educational presentations on a variety of health topics including CPR, hand hygiene, puberty, and preventive health. Coordinate and schedule health screenings and presentations with community partners. Develop community health campaigns to raise awareness of critical health topics. Design community health related brochures, flyers, and draft resolutions.
This position is 20 hours per week and is non-exempt with a pay rate of $25.00 per hour. The Community Health Specialist will be scheduled for work hours based on the needs of the residents of Hanover Township with most hours between Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in community health, public health, health sciences, or a health-related field highly preferred.
- Health Education or experience in a health-related field is beneficial.
- Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications required including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Desktop Publishing.
- Two years related experience working in an office setting preferred.

- Ability to read, comprehend, listen to and follow complex verbal or written instructions from multiple sources.
- Ability to provide appropriate feedback by asking probing questions and/or suggesting alternative approaches.
- Ability to read, comprehend, create and explain to others complex correspondence, reports and/or manuals.
- Ability to convey procedures and policies one-on-one or in groups to employees and customers.
- Knowledge of office procedures and methods including telephone systems, office equipment, and record keeping.
- Knowledge of business communication, including style and format of letters, memoranda, minutes, and reports.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to speak and read Spanish is a plus.
