What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Technician - Resource Center - Full Time (40 hours) position at Hanover?
- Build, construct and repair structural areas and equipment; work from blueprints, floor plans, drawings and oral instructions, (e.g. benches, wall mountings, floors, doors, framework, sheet rock, finish trim, carpet, etc.)
- Make general purchases, initiate cost saving measures and perform preventive maintenance
- Move, relocate and repair office furniture; maintain Co-op storage facilities; set up special events (e.g. case lot sale, special events, etc.)
- Repair, clean and monitor roof maintenance. (e.g., drains, HVAC units, membranes, gutters, etc.)
- Prepare written materials (e.g. supply requisitions, safety inspections, work orders, time sheets, mileage data, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or related activities to supervisor for action
- Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, power outage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
- Cover for other technicians when needed (e.g. vacations, family emergencies, and personal time)
- Participate in department meetings and training for the purpose of maintaining Co-op standards
Required Skills/Experience and Attributes:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years in an industry maintaining commercial buildings
- General knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, construction, HVAC, masonry and electrical
- Must be able to lift up to 60lbs. comfortably on a regular basis
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be over the age of 18
- The ability to read and follow directions and communicate clearly
Attendance Requirement:
This job requires the ability to work flexible hours, nights and/or weekends if required. A normal 40-hour week may include weekends. Schedules are subject to change based on coverage of specific business units. This position will be on rotational “on-call” coverage.
Transportation and Tools:
This job requires the use of a personal vehicle to go from facility to facility. Mileage is calculated and paid by the Co-op at the end of each month. Standard tools that are required will be provided by the Co-op. Personal tools may be used but need to be kept in a safe and secure area clearly labeled by owner.

Physical Demands:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:
Lifting up to 60 lbs., carrying, pushing climbing stairs, frequent stooping, and kneeling. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 75% walking and 20% standing. While performing the duties the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, freezers/coolers, wet and or humid conditions high places and fumes or airborne particles. Safety equipment and protection is provided by the Co-op and must be worn/used at all times when exposed to any of these conditions.
