What you'll do
Philanthropy & Fundraising Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive philanthropy strategy to grow financial support through major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and donor cultivation.
- Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and community stakeholders.
- Oversee fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship programs, and innovative giving initiatives to enhance revenue streams.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and community impact initiatives.
Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships
- Strengthen the organization’s presence and influence within the community through strategic partnerships and outreach programs.
- Develop initiatives that foster collaboration with businesses, civic groups, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
- Act as a public ambassador for the organization, representing it at community events, conferences, and industry forums.
- Oversee volunteer engagement and corporate social responsibility programs to deepen community ties.
Event Planning & Execution
- Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of fundraising and community engagement events, including galas, golf tournament(s) and awareness campaigns.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure events are impactful, well-branded, and aligned with fundraising goals.
- Negotiate vendor contracts, manage event budgets, and oversee logistics to ensure seamless event execution.
- Leverage events as key opportunities to strengthen donor relationships and attract new supporters.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Provide strategic leadership to philanthropy, community engagement, and event teams, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Develop metrics to track fundraising performance, event success, and community impact, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership to align philanthropic and community engagement efforts with the broader mission and long-term sustainability.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Strong desire to work in a purpose driven organization.
- 10 years of experience in philanthropy, fundraising, event planning, or community engagement, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven success in securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and community partnerships.
- Strong event planning experience, including managing large-scale fundraising events.
- Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and inspire collaboration across stakeholders.
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
MENTAL AND/OR EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
