What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Specialist - Leave Management position at Hansell Tierney?
Our client is looking for a HR Specialist - Leave Management who has experience supporting employees with job protected leave, FMLA, accommodations, and absence management.
JOB SUMMARY:
In this role, you will:
- Support the team in processing employee leaves, including FMLA, ADA, state-mandated programs, and internal policies.
- Act as a trusted resource to guide employees and managers through leave-related questions and challenges.
- Ensure compliance with multi-state leave laws, including in AZ, CA, OR, and WA.
- Collaborate with operations leaders to proactively address return-to-work timelines and maintain workforce readiness.
- Handle a high volume of cases—approximately 1,000–3,000 tickets per month—while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide weekly updates on leave statuses, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- 1-3 years of experience in leave administration, absence management, or a related HR function.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information discreetly.
- Exceptional communication skills, emphasizing empathy and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR are a plus.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
Location: Onsite in Renton, WA (5 days/week)
Length of Assignment – 60-day contract, with potential for extension
Compensation Range – $30 - $33/hr
