Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Intake Specialist to be the first point of contact for prospective clients. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting 9/11 survivors, responders, and their families through the initial steps of their VCF claims journey. Your ability to listen, gather information, and guide potential clients with professionalism and care will help set the tone for a positive experience with our firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for individuals inquiring about the 9/11 VCF program and our legal services.
- Conduct initial intake interviews over the phone or via online platforms to collect necessary personal, medical, and employment information.
- Explain the purpose, eligibility, and process of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund in a clear and sensitive manner.
- Accurately enter and update client data in the firm’s case management system.
- Assist with scheduling attorney consultations and follow-ups as needed.
- Screen potential clients for eligibility based on firm criteria and VCF guidelines.
- Ensure all intake documentation and consent forms are completed and received in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with empathy and discretion.
- Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and case managers to ensure a smooth handoff and client onboarding experience.
- Monitor open intakes and follow up with potential clients to address questions or collect missing information.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in legal intake, case management, or client-facing administrative support preferred.
- Familiarity with the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund or similar government benefit programs is a strong plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially when dealing with emotionally sensitive issues.
- Ability to handle high-volume client interactions with patience, professionalism, and empathy.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and client management software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Law Ruler, HubSpot).
