What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Hansens IGA?
Position Purpose:
Represent our store's image in a positive manner by providing our customers with quality baked goods and helpful, courteous service from our bakery department.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Honest, team-oriented person who has a good work ethic.
- Strong sense of pride in one's work.
- Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail.
- Previous experience is a plus. If not, familiarity with the kitchen, speed, and ability to follow recipes are qualities for success.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Accuracy in using proper portioning and measuring.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Places shaped dough in greased or floured pans.
- Places pans of dough in proof box to rise.
- Insert pans of raised dough in oven to bake.
- Adjusts drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperature.
- Remove baked goods from oven and places goods on cooling rack.
- Frost, decorate, sprinkle and fill bakery product as needed.
- Properly wrap, package and label bakery items.
- Order bakery items to meet deadlines and have adequate product.
- Complete inventory duties.
- Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
- Friendly, courteous, positive and enthusiastic interaction with customers.
- Clean all areas of the bakery department as needed, including but not limited to: display cases, pots and pans, baking utensils, floors, tables, counters etc.
- Fill and display bakery products for appealing and fresh look according to company Stock, face and rotate merchandise.
- Pull and mark down expired bakery product.
- Able to handle customer complaints.
- Follows sanitation practices and health regulations and wears appropriate attire.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift 30lbs occasionally, lift 10lbs regularly.
- Stand for the duration of the work shift.
- Reaching and pulling merchandise regularly.
