Our busy grocery store group is currently looking for a team player to fill the position of Seasonal Delivery Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely pick-up and delivery of greenhouse plants to some of our store locations following planned delivery routes. Also responsible for loading and unloading racks of greenhouse plant product. Responsible for the cleanliness and standard maintenance of delivery vehicles and observing safety procedures regarding Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including complying with reporting. Delivery Driver responsibilities and duties.
- You will drive a straight truck for these orders starting mid- April and ending early June
- Requires morning, afternoon, and evening availability any day of the week
- Physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy racks of greenhouse products with pallet jack
- Plan and execute delivery activities including preparing delivery loads and following planned delivery routes
- Also responsible for loading and unloading
- Safely loading and securing products onto delivery truck from designated Greenhouse Stations or off-loading locations.
- Delivering goods in a safe and timely manner.
- Unloading products on racks from delivery truck, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain ongoing communication with greenhouse manager.
- Conduct inspections of vehicles before departing to deliver goods.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and standard maintenance of delivery vehicles
- Ensuring compliance with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations as necessary, including: (a) timely, fully, and accurately completing the driver's daily log, (b) timely, fully, and accurately performing vehicle inspections and completing associated paperwork; (c) keeping other Department of Transportation or employer-required records.
Delivery Driver qualifications and skills
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties
- Valid state-issued driver's license
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction)
- Minimum 1 years’ experience as Delivery Driver
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass company driving test, background check and drug test.
- Strong customer service skills
- Must possess a positive and professional attitude.
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Current forklift certification a plus
- Ability to work on feet and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
