JOB DESCRIPTION
Employee: Internship - Mechanical Engineer
Reports To: Operations Excellence Manager
Department: Engineering
JOB PURPOSE: Internship in engineering support for new and current products as well as continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery needed for production.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend machinery and equipment to procure for manufacturing purposes. Rely on learned knowledge gained during course of study and/or previous work experience in the field.
- Design and coordinate construction of new production equipment and resources such as assembly lines and fixtures.
- Redesign existing equipment to meet new requirements or to add additional safety measures, troubleshoot, repair and improve equipment as needed.
- Responsible for Air Test Equipment calibration on the assembly lines (ATEQ Devices)
- Research multiple alternatives for new equipment, including automation, and determine optimal solution based on need and ROI. Procure equipment as required and coordinate installation and verification. Work closely with outside contractors as required.
- Act as project manager for internal and external transfer of production related equipment and resources.
- Manage start-up of transferred equipment and resources for release to production.
- Work with other departments to coordinate physical transfer, obtain required approvals, manage inventory, and any other tasks required by the job.
- Develop and implement all necessary custom marking solutions for all products (i.e. laser etching). Modify marking solutions as required and insure PPAP approval for all changes.
- Identify and implement solutions and approve processes while participating in various special project teams (i.e. ergonomics, pilot run, etc.).
- Assist other Operations departments as needed in resolving production related issues.
- Actively drive continuous improvement activities and support “5S” at facility.
- Maintain “good attendance” as per the Hansgrohe attendance policy.
- Adhere to and fulfill all requirements for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001.

- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Write business communications that conform to prescribed style and format.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, agency standards, documentation control, and cost analysis
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes and other software.
- Working knowledge of Pro/Engineer and AutoCAD, Solid Works, Catia, and other comparable software
- SAP knowledge a plus, but not required. If no SAP experience, prior knowledge of similar MRPs desirable.
Education and Experience:
working towards a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
