THE POSITION – ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DISCOVERY BIOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY
At Hansoh, we never rest in the quest of bringing truly life-changing treatments to patients. We are currently seeking a highly passionate and experienced small molecule drug discovery leader with expertise in cancer, metabolic diseases, and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases to join our Discovery Biology and Pharmcology team in Rockville, Maryland. The candidate will lead junior scientists and define strategies to advance our pre-clinical programs from target identification and validation to pre-clinical candidate nomination and IND filing. The role will involve significant interaction and collaboration with corporate partners, cross-functional teams, and project teams to impact our pipelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead cross-functional drug discovery teams and implement strategies to drive projects from hit finding to IND filing.
· Lead by example and manage junior scientists to understand mechanism of action, develop assays to drive SAR, and implement in vivo & in vitro pharmacology studies.
· Key contributor to the discovery of new targets across various therapeutic areas to enrich Hansoh’s pipeline.
· Ensure timely delivery of data and effectively communicate progress and strategies to project teams.
· Foster a culture of scientific excellence and support career development for team members.
· Act as a key opinion leader in the areas of cancer biology, metabolic diseases, or immunology and establish and maintain scientific presence amongst the academic community.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or related field with minimal 8 years of industry experience.
· Experienced in leading projects at different drug discovery stages with a track record of successfully advancing small molecule projects to pre-clinical candidate nomination and IND filing.
· Functional expertise in the areas of cancer biology, metabolic diseases, or autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with a track record of impactful publications.
· Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with experiences in effectively working with cross functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
· Direct people management skills are preferred.
· Strong hands-on experience in hit finding, in vitro assay development, and in vivo pharmacology and willingness to guide team members on the bench are desired.
· Well organized with outstanding oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to prepare, present and discuss project reports in internal and partner-facing meetings with clarity, accuracy, and precision.
