Purpose; Scope of Responsibility:
A Production Trainer is responsible for training the machine operators on the production floor to ensure they understand job responsibilities, safety protocols, and efficiency techniques. Their main goal is to enhance worker performance, maintain product quality, and improve overall productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Perform orientation and onboarding “Buddy” training for new hires.
- Perform on-the-job training for operators.
- Establish efficient production processes for all the department’s product lines.
- Regularly train newly hired hourly team members in methods of improving production processes.
- Educate each operator in the proper performance of their job.
- Coordinate transfers and breaks for work area personnel.
- Perform duties within technical expertise such as setting up, tearing down or press operating when not performing Trainer responsibilities.
- Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements
- Monitor produced scrap and raise awareness accordingly.
- Ensure line workers and operators are performing at maximum capability.
- Inspect production lines regularly to ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices and safety regulations are followed.
- Continuous training for all operators as needed
- Ensure quality parts are produced for customers and assist in investigating and evaluating quality defects as assigned and in determining appropriate actions to be taken.
- Makes certain that production areas are kept clean of waste, debris, and liquids to avoid safety hazards.
- Monitors team member’s compliance with company regulations.
- Coaches team members to ensure compliance. Works with Team Lead and Supervisor for corrective actions.
- Keeps track of production hours by line, reported and send to staffing, also staffing hours and reports discrepancies.
- Reports production line speed rates, waste and other metrics.
- Monitors equipment settings, fills and updates paperwork by equipment and line.
- Trains team members on all equipment used in production.
- Effectively communicates as required with supervisor.
- Resolves quality problems with QA’s participation immediately.
- Monitors and ensures effectiveness of training within the production area.
- Constructively provide timely and consistent feedback to Managers of the production area with the view to improve overall performance of the area.
- Initiates and implements training plans and procedures for all production areas.
Education/Background/Experience:
- GED or High School Diploma.
- Completed and certified to train the Trainer.
- Manufacturing experience 2 years.
- Training experience.
- Leadership qualities.
- Problem solving skills – ability to use initiative to provide solutions to training/production issues.
- Bilingual strongly preferred
Essential Functions:
- Able to stand for minimum of 8 hours up to 12 hours.
- Visual accuracy to measure fluids, read calipers, and read job details.
- Able to bend, stoop, twist and squat.
- Able to lift up-to 50lbs.
- Able to push or pull up to 25lbs.
- Able to withstand temperature fluctuations relating to seasonal changes and machinery operation.
- Wrist torque for manually tightening bolts.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing or production facility, which may involve exposure to loud noises, chemicals, heat, or cold temperatures.
- Shift work may be required, including nights and weekends.
- Work involves handling fiberglass materials, which require proper PPE and adherence to safety guidelines.
- We follow a strict attendance policy (point-based system) to ensure operational efficiency.
Job Type: Full-time
