Position Summary:
The Field Technician 3/Site lead manages all field level activities required to operate and maintain a solar site. This will include scheduling, repairing, servicing, maintaining, reporting, communicating, and training activities needed on site. Lead technicians are very familiar with the solar industry and able to perform work on solar and Bess equipment in the field. **This is not an installer position.**
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of inverters, trackers, Bess units and other systems on site.
· Lead and train routine testing and repair of AC and DC electrical circuits.
· Lead and train troubleshooting and repair of faulty equipment.
· Ensure site safety and security on all jobs being performed on site by personnel and contractors.
· Intake, manage and audit on-site inventory and assets.
· Develop and train site personnel on electrically safe testing procedures.
· Site SME of potential electrical hazards and use proper LOTO procedures and equipment to safeguard workspace before repairs or maintenance is performed.
· Audit, log, and record all maintenance activities performed into a computerized maintenance management system, HEIS 2.0.
· Accurately report and relay information to supervision and site owner representatives.
· Adhere to all site safety requirements including LOTO, PPE, and safe working practices.
· Perform site security and visual inspections of vegetation, facilities, and roadways.
· Coordinate with contractors on assigned projects and develop schedules
· Lead other technicians to accomplish specific tasks or activities.
· Perform all solar and/or Bess site activities not listed above.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
· Required:
o Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and able to program and manipulate equipment
o High level of electronic principles knowledge to perform advanced troubleshooting and create procedure to safely operate and maintain onsite equipment.
o Advanced electrical testing equipment knowledge (multimeter, IV Curve Tracer, TTR, insulation resistance etc.)
o Capable of performing substation and recloser switching.
o Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) programs
o 5 years solar experience
o Ability to navigate SCADA system monitoring and applications
o Medium and High Electrical Voltage testing and safety experience
o Leadership and mentorship experience
· Preferred:
o Journey Licenses
o Industry certifications
o OEM training and certificates
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
· Required:
o Ability to mostly work in an outside environment
o Lifting items greater than 35 pounds
o Walking on uneven ground
o Ability to handle temperature extremes.
o Able to wear and safely utilize all PPE required to perform tasks.
