This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education And Experience
Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
Although the majority of the co-op's time will be spent in an office environment, they should also expect to engage in regular field work in the shipyard's fabrication shops, dry docks, warehouse, and onboard vessels as part of the above activities. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A range of motion sufficient to perform general lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, climbing, extended walking or standing, etc. is required. This is an on-site, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.

- Ensure that all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
- Perform field engineering activities and support resolution of production issues
- Assist in creation of Condition Found Reports for repair jobs
- Create and distribute Engineering Work Packages
- Assist design engineers in reviewing Basic, Detail, and Production Design drawings
- Assist with creation of Design Change Notices, including drawing preparation or revisions
- Assist with pre-launch and pre-delivery deadweight surveys
- Assist with hull marking surveys and underwater inspection documentation
- Assist with sea trial preparations
- Assist with coordination of as-built vessel drawings
- Support subcontractor and material coordination
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Preferred College Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture
- Some related work or volunteer experience/second Co-op preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office and 2D CAD systems, such as AutoCAD
- Some experience with 3D CAD systems, such as Inventor/Solidworks/ProE is preferred. Experience with Aveva PDMS, Aveva Marine, or Tribon is a plus.
- Proficiency with metric system
- Some knowledge of machinery and/or piping
- Knowledge/experience concerning ship design is a plus
