Machinery Production Engineer

• Ensure that all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
• Perform field engineering activities for assigned areas. Respond to issues by going on board or to the block and examining the issue. Interface with production supervisors or workers as appropriate.
• Create Design Change Notice packages or Corrective Action Notices to resolve issues. Create supporting drawings, sketches, or markups using Adobe, 2D or 3D CAD.
• Document material non-conformances or other issues with purchased material and equipment for feedback through the purchasing department or partner. Enter purchase requisitions as appropriate.
• Interface with design partner to have drawings revised if needed.
• Review and approve production installation drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of material. Check for accuracy against basic/detail design, yard and project standards, 3D model, previous vessels, and any known design changes. Identify any missing equipment or parts, interferences, production or regulation issues. Interface with other engineers or design partner for revision.
• Create and maintain Dock Trial test procedures. Provide technical support to test engineers during vessel testing and commissioning.
• Create and maintain equipment Installation Procedures to explain complex installation processes.
• Create and distribute engineering Work Packages.
• Assist in creation of Condition Found Reports for repair projects.
• Create bill of material take offs and drawing packages for repair projects. Create fabrication drawings as necessary using 2D or 3D CAD.
• Assist with pre-launch and pre-delivery deadweight surveys, hull marking surveys, underwater inspection documentation, tank gauging and sounding calibration.
• Assist with coordination of as-built vessel drawings
• Support subcontractor and material coordination.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Associate’s degree in engineering technology, drafting or equivalent with 2 years’ experience in an engineering/construction field.
• Proficiency with MS Office and 2D CAD systems, such as AutoCAD
• Proficiency with metric system
• Some knowledge of machinery and/or piping
• Experience with Aveva PDMS, Aveva Marine, or Tribon is a plus. Experience with 3D CAD systems such as Inventor/Solidworks/ProE will also be considered.
• Experience with an ERP system such as SAP is a plus
• Knowledge/experience concerning ship design is a plus
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Machinery Production Engineer should expect to engage in regular field work in the shipyard's fabrication shops, dry docks, warehouse, and onboard vessels as part of the above activities. Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time, salaried position. Monday through Friday with flexible start time.
