JOB SUMMARY
The BSD Specialist is responsible for coordinating with the Areas, other Regions, Global teams in Hamburg and IT to arrive at decisions that require advanced knowledge. Analyze computer systems and provide solutions in conjunction with IT with minimum or zero supervision. In alignment with BSD Management, formulate application system solutions to resolve issues and improve productivity/efficiencies in the Region. Work with subject matter experts to build the required automation such as macros, robotic process automation (Blue Prism), Power Automate, and other tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency. This can range from ad-hoc one-time use solutions to full-blown process automation. Work with BSD managers and coordinators to ensure automation solutions have a definitive lifecycle or end date either through FIS or other core Hapag system enhancements or through larger process improvements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- The specialist in alignment with BSD management will work with the Areas, other regions, global teams, and IT and lead the creation of automation solutions that will answer the needs of the business and result in financial and manpower savings.
- The specialist will lead in the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, and maintenance of automation programs and roll out the automation of automated tasks/processes with minimum supervision.
- In charge of the creation and maintenance of high-value macros using MS Office/Excel
- In charge of the creation and maintenance of RPA, Power Automate, and other tools.
- During the manager's absence, supervise employees within the Business Systems team.
- Experience with Data Transformation, EG. Take a report and transform it into Excel for analysis.
- Liaise with Area and Regional offices to obtain factual process improvements/ requirements
- Document/create SOPs, user instructions and manuals
- Provide staff with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving complex, escalated complaints, or disputes.
- Manage support tickets via JIRA for all systems related to Automation.
- Point of contact for Area users when regional and global changes occur within the Automation team’s responsibility.
- Update and test improvements of company software.
- Update all area users within company systems.
- Ensure consistent application of Hapag-Lloyd policies to all personnel actions
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of Business Systems experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Maritime experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Understand the basic function and interrelationships of various organizations within Hapag-Lloyd and how they work together and guard against actions that will negatively impact business in general.
- Expert in VBA with emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and Access-based macros
- Knowledge of Automation, Python, and Power Tools tools will be an added advantage
- Ability to work and collaborate with various teams to identify business needs and create appropriate plans to achieve the defined project goals.
- Understand interfaces between layers of software, software modules, and the process they reflect and apply that understanding in the development, testing and/or support of applications and systems in general.
- Ability to train users on new systems or enhancements to existing.
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g., MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other software appropriate to work demands.
