About Us: We are an early-stage startup based in Plano, TX, on a mission to reduce digital clutter in people's lives. We're developing a range of connected devices, starting with smart buttons and displays, designed to simplify everyday tasks and notifications. We're currently funded, building our MVP, and poised to secure follow-on funding based on hitting our initial milestones.
The Role (MVP Focus): We're looking for a passionate and hands-on Hardware Design Engineer to lead the core hardware development for our initial products. The primary goal is to rapidly bring connectivity to our MVP within the next 1-3 months, demonstrating core features using Bluetooth LE (BLE) communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select optimal low-power MCUs and components.
- Design and maintain hardware schematics.
- Design and maintain PCB layouts.
- Implement Bluetooth LE (BLE) communication.
- Bring-up, test, and debug the prototype.
- Collaborate closely with the founder.
- Help establish best practices and processes.
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (can be in-progress).
- Proven embedded systems design experience.
- Hands-on Bluetooth LE (BLE) development.
- Schematic capture experience (KiCad, Altium, EasyEDA, etc.).
- Hardware/firmware debugging skills.
- Based in/near Plano, TX for collaboration.
- Startup mentality: adaptable, problem-solver, takes ownership.
Nice-to-Haves:
- C/C for microcontrollers.
- Low-power/battery design expertise.
- Experience with Matter/Thread.
- Basic cloud connectivity (MQTT).
Compensation & Structure:
- The initial engagement is structured as a contract role focused on delivering the MVP within the defined timeframe (~1-3 months), utilizing our initial runway.
- There is a strong potential and desire for this role to transition into a full-time, permanent leadership position (e.g., Lead Embedded Engineer, potential co-founder discussion) upon successful MVP delivery and securing our next funding tranche.
Salary : $43 - $60
