Job Title : Physical Therapy Assistant - Outpatient Clinic

Location : CP Rochester - Winton Road Facility Rochester, NY 14623

Salary commensurate with experience : $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Hours of Employment : This is a full-time position 37.5 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during Clinic business hours. Evening work may be required as job duties demand.

Requirements :

Associate Degree. Completion of accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Licensure and current registration as a Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State.
Valid New York State driver's license.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Maintains eligibility with staff checks and background checks.

Maintains Physical Therapy Assistant licensure / registration.

Maintains insurance credentialing status.

Summary / Objective : To ensure all program or departmental services provided by the agency are focused on accomplishing the CP Rochester mission, vision and organizational values and that the services meet the goals of the department and the other agencies as needed. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy services under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Essential Functions :

Imparts agency philosophy of "Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential" to children, families, program staff and community resources.

Upholds NYS Education Law / Practice Act as relating to the practice of physical therapy assistants.

Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.

Conducts land and / or aquatic physical therapy sessions in accordance with plans of care and under the supervision and direction of a licensed physical therapist.

Provides client and / or caregiver education / training in areas such as adaptive equipment, transfers, and home exercise programs.

Completes paperwork in accordance with the standards of the department, agency, and regulatory agencies.

Collects and provides all non-assessment documentation to physical therapists to support the completion of progress reports.

Communicates with clients, families, and other professionals including, aides, habilitation and residential staff, therapists, physicians, nurses, care coordinators, and equipment vendors.

Performs and / or assists with consults and trainings, as assigned.

Keeps physical therapists and / or department supervisor informed about equipment and departmental needs.

Acquires and maintains CPR and Lifeguard certification and carries out lifeguarding responsibilities, as assigned.

Participates in trainings, as needed, or as recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.

Participates in supervision and department meetings.

Achieves agency and / or department goals by performing other responsibilities, as needed, including, but not limited to, sanitizing treatment areas, laundering linens, transporting clients, scheduling, and assisting with client transfers,

Adheres to agency policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to pull and push wheelchairs up to

250 - 300 pounds - maximum weight required.

Travel : Is primarily local during the business day. Employee will be expected to work at any of our satellite clinics and / or partner agencies.
