What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Teacher position at HAPPY DAYS CHILDCARE?
Happy Days Childcare in Merrillville, IN is looking for one lead teacher to join our 14 person strong team. We are located on 6111 Harrison Street Suite 145. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and engaged.
Responsibilities
The lead teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of teaching team, and functions as a team leader, co-leader. The teacher plans and implements the curriculum, and with active participation of other members of the teaching team, works with parents and assist the needs of individual children.
- Be the primary caregiver for up to four children in the classroom.
- Engage children in activities and play
- Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren)
- Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
- Supervise teacher aides in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations
- Train any teacher aides in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day
- Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children
- Conduct child assessments and facilitate parent-teacher conferences
- Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends
- Prepare monthly parent newsletters and weekly lesson plans according to policy
- Be responsible for daily sheets and the daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, and diaper changing
- Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times.
- Lead Teachers report directly to the Assistant Director or Center Director with any questions or concerns they have regarding the children or center policy.
Qualifications
Must have thorough knowledge of and be able to implement a developmental curriculum. Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and have an Associate or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, or CDA credential and be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children. In addition, he/she must meet the requirements of the city and state licensing agencies.
