The Import Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the importation of goods from international suppliers. This includes managing the entire process from order placement to customs clearance and delivery, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Import Documentation & Compliance:
- Prepare and review import documentation including purchase orders, invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with all import regulations, including customs duties, tariffs, and other legal requirements.
- Liaise with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance of goods through customs.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to schedule and track shipments.
- Monitor shipments to ensure timely arrival and resolve any delays or issues.
- Work with internal teams to manage inventory and ensure accurate tracking of imported goods.
- Customs Compliance & Tariffs:
- Stay updated on customs regulations, tariff codes, and import duties in various countries.
- Work with the compliance team to ensure all imported products meet safety, labeling, and other regulatory standards.
- Prepare and submit customs entries and ensure accurate payment of duties and taxes.
- Supplier & Vendor Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and freight partners to ensure smooth import processes.
- Resolve any issues related to import shipments, including delays, discrepancies, or damages.
- Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all import activities and transactions.
- Provide regular reports on the status of shipments, costs, and potential issues.
- Assist in audits and ensure documentation is available for compliance reviews.
- Problem Resolution:
- Address and resolve import-related issues such as delayed shipments, damaged goods, incorrect paperwork, or customs clearance problems.
- Ensure proper communication with all stakeholders to mitigate risks and delays.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- 1 years of experience in import/export operations, logistics, or international trade.
- Familiarity with customs regulations, import documentation, and tariffs.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of global trade, supply chain logistics, and import procedures.
- Proficiency with import software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $4,000.00 - $4,500.00 per month
