Position Overview : We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professional (DSPs) As a DSP, you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives and achieve their personal goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Person-Centered Support : Provide individualized support to individuals with developmental disabilities, respecting their preferences, choices, and independence.
- Assistance with Daily Living Activities : Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and meal preparation, while promoting dignity and self-determination.
- Community Inclusion : Facilitate community outings, recreational activities, and social interactions to promote integration and participation in community life.
- Medication Management : Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with medication schedules, while adhering to all safety protocols and documentation requirements.
- Behavior Support : Implement positive behavior support strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote the development of coping skills and emotional regulation techniques.
- Health Monitoring : Monitor individuals' health status and communicate any concerns or changes to healthcare professionals, ensuring timely access to medical care as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of support services provided, including progress notes, incident reports, and individualized service plans.
- Team Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including case managers, therapists, healthcare providers, and family members, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Crisis Intervention : Respond to crises and emergencies calmly and effectively, following established protocols and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals supported.
- Professional Development : Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of developmental disabilities and person-centered support.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in human services, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with individuals supported, families, and team members.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy towards individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- Ability to follow instructions, implement care plans, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- A fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Service or eligible to obtain one.
- Adhere to all scheduled trainings as required for the position.
- This position may require flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of individuals supported.
- Direct Support Professional may work in a variety of settings, including residential homes, day programs, and community-based locations. Benefits :
