Your Role as a Veterinary Technician
We’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician who is skilled, compassionate, and dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets and their families. In this role, you’ll be a critical part of our team, supporting veterinarians, assisting in patient care, and creating positive experiences for both pets and pet parents. You’ll help ensure the clinic runs smoothly by practicing high-quality medicine, maintaining clear communication, and fostering trust with pet parents and team members alike.

Key Responsibilities
· Patient Care and Support: Assist veterinarians in providing medical and emergency care,
administer medications, monitor patient recovery, and offer critical care to sick or injured pets
with compassion and professionalism.
· Technical Expertise and Procedures: Perform essential veterinary technician tasks, including
animal catheterization, digital radiography, and lab procedures (e.g., bloodwork, urinalysis).
Manage anesthesia and monitor patient vital signs during surgery, ensuring safety and
comfort.
· Surgical Preparation and Assistance: Prepare animals for surgery, maintaining aseptic
technique in the surgical suite. Clean and prepare surgical packs, operate the autoclave to
sterilize instruments, and ensure all surgical tools are ready for use. Monitor gas anesthesia,
assist during procedures, and handle post-operative care, including dental prophylaxis and
radiography.
· Pet Parent Communication and Education: Act as an advocate and educator for pet parents by
presenting diagnostic and treatment plans, explaining procedures and medications, and
discussing discharge instructions to build confidence in pet care.
· Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records using our Practice
Information Management System (PIMS), preferably Cornerstone. Ensure thorough, compliant
documentation that supports high-quality care.
· Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Support customer service representatives and other team
members during busy periods, contributing to a positive, collaborative clinic environment.
· Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and
medical equipment. Restock supplies to ensure a well-prepared environment for each
appointment.
· Financial Stewardship: Communicate treatment costs effectively and assist in financial
reconciliation, helping pet parents understand and feel comfortable with their billing.
· Safety and Compliance: Adhere to OSHA safety standards, use proper PPE, and practice safe
handling techniques to ensure a secure environment for all.
Qualifications
· Certification and Experience: 2 years’ experience as a Veterinary Technician.
Prefer an experienced CVT or equivalent.
· Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using PIMS software, preferably Avimark, for precise
documentation and scheduling. Demonstrates strong skills in surgery, dentistry, preventative
health, and internal medicine.
· Mathematical Skills: Strong knowledge of drug calculations and dosing, with attention to
accuracy in administering medications.
· Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly and
compassionately educate pet parents and collaborate with team members.
· Organizational Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-
paced environment.
· Compassion and Empathy: A true animal lover with a caring, gentle approach to handling
pets and a commitment to empathetic pet parent service.
· Team Player: Selfless, adaptable, and proactive in supporting fellow team members, with a
“can-do” attitude.
· Professionalism and Reliability: Punctual, responsible, and dedicated to maintaining high
standards of care, pet parent service, and clinic cleanliness.
· Flexibility: Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
