Happy Returns operates a national network of Return Bar locations staffed by friendly, well-trained Returnista’s (return specialists), located in premier shopping centers, national and regional store networks, and other convenient locations. Our company is growing rapidly and we’re looking for a dynamic, organized, and passionate HR leader to join the team at our Shoemakersville, PA Hub.
Position Summary
As the Human Resources Generalist, you will oversee key HR functions, including payroll administration, employee engagement, and other HR-related responsibilities. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a positive workplace culture and upholding our core values to build an engaged and motivated workforce. - Oversee the day-to-day HR support for our on-site operations and remote HQ employees.
- Manage the company’s payroll, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee wages, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll-related tasks.
- Drive and implement employee engagement initiatives and assess the impact of programs and events.
- Recruiting support including job postings, conducting phone screens, handling candidate communications, and interviews.
- Complete on-boarding of employees, facilitating new employee orientation, and managing the coordination of employee training with leaders across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations; assess, communicate,
interpret, and administer updated HR policies and procedures. - Serve as the primary contact for employees and management on benefits, FMLA, workers’ comp, disability, etc.
- Manage employee relations, including employee concerns and investigations.
- Ensure employee data is current and accurate within our HRIS.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll systems and regulations.
- Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks).
- At least 2-3 years of experience in payroll administration or a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build trust, maximize relationships, and interact with employees across all levels.
- Technical proficiencies with various HRIS, payroll, performance management and timecard/attendance systems.
- Experience supporting employee relations and strategic HR initiatives; handling sensitive, complex and confidential information.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
- Skilled understanding of and ability to apply federal, state and local regulations and policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in manufacturing/warehouse facilities and prior HR experience in transportation preferred.
- Fluency in English and Spanish
