Happy Tails Learning Center for Dogs is hiring 1-2 Part-Time or Full-Time Kennel Assistants to work weekday & weekend shifts. We’re looking for someone with flexible availability that is interested in working 25-40 hours per week. Job responsibilities are 80% heavy cleaning and 20% care of dogs. The job is VERY physical so you must be able to work long hours on your feet, lift heavy objects, manage strong dogs that pull & jump and must be able to perform heavy cleaning duties.
WE ARE LOOKING TO FILL THE FOLLOWING SHIFTS:
- Monday - Fridays 7am to ~ 4pm
- Saturdays & Sundays 7am ~ 5pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate will be responsible for heavy cleaning (kennels, crates, vacuuming and mopping floors, other general cleaning, etc). You will also be responsible for the care of dogs (feeding, pottying them, bathing, administering medicine, etc). Enrichment play and posting creative, fun videos and pictures of their activities is also part of the job. So someone familiar with social media is preferred.
- Provide daily care for dogs and other animals, including feeding, bathing, play and exercise.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by cleaning and disinfecting cages, kennels, and common areas.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management or veterinary staff.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and report any issues or changes in behavior.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all animals.
PREREQUISITES:
Here's the deal...We work our tails off (get it?)! But we're also a fun group. So we want someone who can fit in with our team of goofballs but understands the importance of hard work! You must be willing and able to work with dogs of all temperaments and sizes. The position is very physical so you must be physically capable of performing the cleaning & handling responsibilities - you're on your feet all day. You need be willing to work independently and must be reliable. Candidate must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation and have a strong work-ethic. We are looking for candidates that have a go-with-the flow attitude (the dog world is often unpredictable), who will work hard, be reliable and who can work well with others.
- Previous experience in pet care, veterinary assistance, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Skills in dog handling, animal restraint, and heavy lifting are essential.
- Knowledge of basic pet grooming techniques is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is crucial.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must be physically capable of performing tasks that require standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.
