Packaging Technician

Position Overview :

The Packaging Technician is responsible for the post-production handling of multiple manufactured products. Duties performed include the prepping, weighing, operating of packaging machines, and labeling of products from our facilities. The Packaging Technician reports directly to Lead Machine Operator and the Director of Operations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Weighing, measuring, sorting, labeling, and packaging of cannabis edibles for medical and recreational sale

• Create and apply labels in accordance with product information, testing results, and other required information

• Operating commercial automated packaging machines

• Maintain forms and database to precisely record weight, product count, and any relevant issues for all products

• Assemble, line, and pad boxes and shipping containers for finished product storage and shipping

• Accurately measure, weigh, and place/scoop products into containers, using hand tools and equipment

• Thoroughly clean equipment, hand tools, containers, materials, supplies, and work areas, using cleaning solutions in accordance with the relevant SOPs

• Responsible for operating a variety of automated sorting, batching, and packaging machinery

• Maintaining quality control by visually inspecting cannabis products and packaging to ensure consistency in product standards; ensuring labeling and product counts are accurate

• Inventory of cannabis products upon receipt and distribution to and from the department

• Assisting in the loading, unloading, and inventory of cannabis packaging, supplies and materials

• Adhering to production schedules

• Weighing and processing waste material in accordance with state regulations (105 CRM 725.000) and company policies and procedures

• Cleaning and sanitizing packaging areas

• Preform daily, weekly, and monthly audits of packaging supplies when directed by the Inventory & Packaging Manager

• Effectively communicate any issues or constructive criticism with product packaging directly to Inventory Manager

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance)
• Ability to stand for a full, ten-hour shift
• Fine motor skills and ability to use hands and fingers to precisely and accurately fill, package, and label products
• Close visual acuity in order to read fine print on product labels and equipment screens

Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• High school diploma or GED, required

• Prior experience using automated packaging equipment, a plus

• Prior packaging and inventory experience

• Experience using inventory software and Excel, a plus

• Must have a strong work ethic and ability to work well on a team

• Must be detail oriented and self-motivated

• Ability and willingness to work overtime

• Good verbal and written skills

• Must adhere to the Massachusetts CCC hiring guidelines

Preferred Skills/Abilities

• Prior experience working within the cannabis industry

• High level of attention to detail

• Ability to work independently, accurately, and be flexible

• Has a motivated team player attitude
