Per Diem Counselor
Agency Overview: Harambe Social Services is a non-profit 501c3 organization in Camden County, NJ. Our name, Harambe, is Swahili for “pulling together in unity,” which aligns with the principles of Nguzo Saba, celebrated at Kwanzaa. We exist to promote the wellbeing of people of the African Diaspora who are impacted by domestic and sexual violence, which includes LGBTQIA communities. While our mission focuses on people of the African Diaspora, we welcome all who are ready to embark on a journey toward better emotional, mental, and physical health together. We provide culturally specific case management services such as housing, legal, and medical advocacy. We also provide therapeutic and healing modalities to youth and adults.
Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited university required. A license to practice in New Jersey e.g., LSW, LCSW, LCPC is preferred. Experience providing assessments and therapy services. Prior experience working with adults of varied sexual orientation and gender identities, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and individuals with disabilities. Excellent verbal communication skills. Creative arts background is a plus. Criminal and child abuse background checks will be required. Evening and weekend availability required.
Job Description: Per Diem Counselor is responsible for providing up to 10 hours per week of individual or group counseling and other therapeutic interventions to adults and youth who experienced or witnessed domestic /sexual / teen dating violence through. Sessions are to be conducted at the office for youth. Sessions are to be conducted at the office or virtually for adults. Flexible schedule, with some evening expectations.
- Facilitate individual, group, family, and crisis therapy sessions.
- Demonstrate competency in the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to meet clients ‘psychological and social needs, including through an intersectional lens.
- Conduct therapeutic interviews to assist clients to gain insight into personal problems, define goals, and develop a treatment plan.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of the treatment plan and reviews within established times.
- Document sessions in client record in a timely manner according to established policies.
- Interact professionally and respectfully while maintaining and ensuring HIPAA, ethical standards, and professional boundaries with all staff and clients.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Salary: Range $45-$60 per hour
