What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surg/Tx Precertification Rep - Neurology position at Harbin Clinic?
SUMMARY: The Central Precertification Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties necessary to the daily operation of the practice or department. Primary duties include but are not limited to answering telephone calls, scheduling patient appointments and procedures, and obtaining pre-certifications and referrals according to payer guidelines.
Essential Duties:
- Greets each patient and/or visitor. Provides all required assistance and information in a kind, courteous manner.
- Answers the telephone and directs calls appropriately.
- Schedules patient appointments and ensures any unnecessary referral authorizations are in place for specialty visits according to payer guidelines.
- Schedules procedures such as labs or imaging studies and obtains any necessary pre-certifications/prior authorizations according to payer guidelines.
- Reviews referrals report frequently and enters pre-certification/prior authorization information in a timely manner.
- Verifies that all forms/orders given to a patient are complete an accurate.
- Uses patient cases/referral orders to notify proper staff of patient calls, concerns, and questions.
- Monitors and responds to assigned tasks in the EHR in a timely manner.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Previous experience in the medical field is preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of the use and operation of general office equipment (computer, phone, copier, fax)
- Working with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
