Description
General Function: It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement, Statement of Values, Code of Conduct and adherence to the values set forth by our STAR philosophy. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the efforts of Outside Sales on projects that HLC will be doing turn key. The majority of these projects will be in the scope of commercial sales.
Experience: Minimum of two years experience in contractor-oriented building materials operations or two years experience in contractor-oriented outside sales.
Education: High school diploma is required. Relevant college education in lieu of certain aspects of experience will be taken into consideration.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: The ability to read blue prints and perform material take offs is required. Must be neat and well organized, with a focus on attention to detail. Solid math and verbal skills are required. Must be able to coordinate and lead meetings with both internal staff and customers when required. A full understanding of the entire scope of the construction process is required.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain relationships with the OSS, purchasing staff, superintendents, subs and management associated with the turn key project.
- Anticipate material requirements and coordinate those activities with the GM.
- Actively visit all job sites weekly to ensure quality control is in place, materials are in order and the project remains on schedule.
- Handle all complaints within 24 hours, or have a plan of action in place to have the matter resolved within 24 hours.
- Ensure that the customer is getting the service levels needed that suits their needs.
- Assist the Outside Sales staff in obtaining costs of materials and labor.
- Manage and process all POs, regardless of which branch the material will ship.
- Coordinate the shipping of all orders with the appropriate branch the material will ship from.
- Assist the Outside Sales staff and GM with invoicing and POs by ensuring things are done per job according to the PO.
- Keep the SM and GM aware of any situations that may be occurring with the CA that would impact our business with them; this includes credit matters as well as operations.
- Attend weekly production meetings held by the General Contractor. Attend safety meetings of the General Contractor as needed.
- The occasional delivery of materials to a jobsite may be required, although this should not be common, and if it became so, the GM should be consulted regarding this.
- Assist the HLC estimators in preparing the proposals for quotes.
- Attend the pre-start project meeting with the HLC Commercial Advisory Group.
Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds will be required on an occasional basis. The Account Manager must be able to climb, balance and crawl.
Working Conditions: The work is a combination of onsite work, offsite work and jobsite work.
