Window Specialist

Description

General Function: It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement and Statement of Values while adhering to the Company Code of Conduct.  The primary responsibility of this position is to service and generate premium window sales to all assigned contractor accounts and to generate new contractor account business.

Experience:    Two years experience in window sales or two years sales experience in contractor-oriented building materials operation or equivalent experience is required.

Education:   High school diploma is required.  A degree in management, sales, marketing, or construction science is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:   The ability to read blue prints, follow instructions, and complete forms is required along with the ability to use various window vendor software.  Knowledge of window designs and the ability to match the window design to the customer’s needs is required.  Knowledge of the construction process and building codes is required.  The Specialist must be neat, well organized, and capable of communicating with customers, employees and managers. Solid math and reading skills are required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Product Specialist.
   1. Developing specialized and detailed product knowledge on windows and their accessories.  
   2. Maintaining product information for customers to review when presenting them with the products and options.
   3. Staying abreast of all product trends and markets.
   4. Communicating with Outside Sales Representatives and keeping updated information on target customers.
   5. Striving to keep the vendor multiplier and cost structure to a minimum level to allow the Company to be competitive.
2. Other.
   1. Providing and producing exceptional quality and service to the professional building contractor and other customers who use our products, leading with hew products and ideas to serve our customers better.
   2. Preparing quotations as specified by the customer.
   3. Coordinating premium window takeoffs.
   4. Maintaining knowledge of building code requirements and maintaining a compliance list.
   5. Notifying appropriate department heads of unusual inventory requirements.
   6. Following procedures for receipting, receiving and invoicing jobs and ensuring every detail is correct.
   7. Promoting and selling products to target customers in conjunction with Outside Sales Representatives and vendor representatives.
   8. Ensuring there is a signed contract for each job.
   9. Inspecting, approving, and finalizing each job once it is completed.
   10. Resolving any maintenance and warranty issues.
3. Coordination.
   1. Coordinating delivery times.
   2. Working with Outside Sales Representatives and the vendor representative to coordinate bids.
   3. Coordinating price increases with Outside Sales Representatives and all other appropriate staff.
4. Safety.
   1. Complying with the Company safety policy.
   2. Being knowledgeable of the safety hazards posed when delivering these products and ensuing that the product can be loaded and unloaded safely with the necessary resources or personnel.
   3. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
   4. Reporting all safety concerns to the General Manager immediately.
5. General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Window Specialist must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all location personnel, Outside Sales Staff, Inside Sales Staff, and other Company employees.

Physical Requirements:   Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds will be required on an occasional basis.

Working Conditions:   The work environment is split between inside work and outside work on the customer’s job site or office and in all types of weather.
