The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Internship role provides a student with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment. This role will support HWI at the plant level. The Environmental Health and Safety Internship provides hands-on experience in the implementation and support of EHS programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Assisting in ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations while helping to promote a culture of safety and sustainability with the organization. Assisting in the development and implementation of safety and environmental programs and procedures.
- Collaborating with team to track and analyze workplace incidents, near misses, and safety trends. Assisting with reporting and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned. Providing general administrative support as needed.
- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field
- Must have completed sophomore year with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong interest in environmental, health, and safety issues
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards preferred
- Basic understanding of environmental and safety risk management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Know and follow all safety rules and procedures
- Physical Activity: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time sitting and/or speaking/hearing. Requires less than 1/3 of time standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching
- Lifting: Requires lifting up to 25 pounds less than 1/3 of time
- Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to focus
- Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time in an office setting. Requires less than 1/3 of time working near moving mechanical parts, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, and/or vibration
- Noise: Requires exposure to very loud noise
