Responsibilities
- Ensuring operation of machinery, production equipment, and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance and repairs on mixer, motors, pneumatic tools, pumps, hydraulics, mobile equipment, cranes – jib and overhead, etc.
- Ability to use basic hand tools typically used in mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance. These tools may include power tools such as grinders, drills, pneumatic power packs, and impact wrench used to perform repair and routine equipment maintenance.
- Use an oxy-fuel burning torch, be able to do minor MIG/TIG welding.
- The employee will be required to have a working knowledge in the use of electrical circuit testing and basic diagnostic equipment. The employee will have a functional understanding of electrical schematic and mechanical drawings. This is an essential job function and is required to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Complete inspection reports.
- Education / Skills / Knowledge
- Requires high school diploma or GED
- Ability to operate a jib crane and ensure the rigging of the load is correct
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to safely operate various hand and electrical tools
- Ability to read, understand and work in conformity with work orders, as directed
- Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment
- Organized individual with emphasis on quality and the ability to meet deadlines
- Requires basic electrical skills
- Ability to effectively communicate instructions or questions related to work assignments or safety
- issues
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
- fractions, and decimals. May be required to possess working knowledge of geometry and basic trigonometry.
- Requires specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
- perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished either in written, oral or diagram format. The employee should have an increasing comprehension of weld and machine symbols used within the industry.
- Ability to execute the essential job assignment with increasing improvement in timelines and
- workmanship. Failure to acquire increasing ability to perform essential job functions may result in revocation of the welding or fitting qualifications and the employee will not be permitted to weld or fit for the company until such time the employee can again demonstrate the ability to fulfill the deficient requirement(s).
- Valid driver’s license
- Respirator training
- Requires five plus (5 ) years of experience operating and maintaining equipment such as mixers, cranes – jib and overhead, welding machines, mobile equipment, pumps, tools, etc., typical of industrial settings.
- Experience on a shotcrete machine being an operator as well as troubleshooting issues on the shotcrete machines is a plus.
- Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time sitting, and talking or hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time standing, walking, using hands/fingers to handle and/or feel and reaching with hands and arms; less than 1/3 of time climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- Lifting: Requires lifting up to 10 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close, distance and color vision, and the ability to focus.
- Environment: Requires more than 2/3 of time in an office setting with very limited exposure; less than 1/3 of time exposed to wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and extreme heat/cold.
- Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise conditions.
