The Research Maintenace Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing the research facility and equipment. The Research Maintenance Technician is expected to determine the root casue of problems and complete necessary repairs with minimal supervision. Research Maintenance Technician will consult with Research Facilities Manager when clarification/approval is required.
Responsibilities
- Complying with established facility safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding and other regulations as applicable. Writing and updating Safe Operating Procedures: Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and identifying, reporting and correcting at risk situations and behavior.
- Perform general equipment and facility repair functions to maintain research operational capabilities.
- Troubleshoot equipment as needed - electrical, mechancial and fluid power sytems.
- Operate lift equipment as duties required (various lift trucks and cranes).
- Requires high school diploma or GED.
- Requires minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in industrial environment.
- Electrical Safety/Journeyman Certification preferred. Additional certificates/professional credentials a plus but not required.
- Requires interpersonal skills in dealing with coworkers, contractors and vendors, mechanical aptitude.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude/troublehsooting abilities.
- Experience working with PLC's is a plus but not required.
- Ability to read drawings, schematics and blue prints.
- Ability to safely operate various hand. electrical and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.
- Basic fabrication skills working with metals, wood, plastics, etc.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing - water, air, hydraulic systems.
- Machining and/or welding experience a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
- Knoweldge of safety policies and procedures (i.e. lock out/tag out), etc.
