What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resource Generalist position at Harbor Brand?
Harbor is seeking an HR Generalist to join the Secor team! This position provides front line human resources & payroll support for management, departments and/or employees.
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
Education/Experience/Other Requirements:
- Must have a HS Diploma or GED equivalent; Associates in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- At least 2 years experience working in a Human Resources position or SPHR or PHR Certification preferred and/or willing to obtain.
- Must be able to handle confidential information and documentation with discretion.
- Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Attention to accuracy and customer service is essential.
- Diplomacy and professionalism are traits that are required.
- Must be detail oriented and consistently accurate.
- Requires excellent project management skills with the ability to follow up on projects and meet deadlines.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:
- Assists the Director of Human Resources, Recruiter, HR Business Partner , HRIS/Payroll Coordinator, and other members of the Human Resources team.
- Supports the administration of key HR processes: Performance Management, Terminations / Resignations, Employee Status Changes (PDC processing), Memorial fund, Employee Benefits and Payroll support
- Generates reports through HR database as requested.
- Inputs and maintains employee’s information in HRIS system and Relias Learning.
- Assists in planning and coordinating employee events.
- Enters and maintains benefit deductions and benefit related data in HRIS system.
- Ensures accurate entry of employee information into medical, dental, and vision benefit systems.
- Works collaboratively with all employees to acquire necessary materials and information,
- Delivers exceptional customer service to meet organizational expectations.
- Orders and maintains office supplies as needed.
- Coordinates the organization of the personnel and human resources files, both paper and electronic.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and recommends enhancements to HR systems and workflows.
- Assists with paperwork related to payroll including tax forms, direct deposit, and union enrollment.
- Assists in processing employee mileage reimbursements, ensuring completeness, timeliness, and accurate submission for payroll processing.
- Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth.
- Monitors, maintains, and responds to inquiries in the Human Resources email inbox, ensuring timely, professional, and accurate communication with employees and external stakeholders.
