What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Technician position at Harbor Brand?
Harbor is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the Woodley team! Mental Health Technicians are responsible for providing direct care to Urgent Care/Crisis clients and maintaining clinical records regarding each client's behavior.
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Training hours will be 9:30am to 6:00pm. After training, hours will change to 10:30am to 7:00pm.
Education/Experience/Other Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s in a Mental Health related field preferred.
- Experience working with and/or training in delivery of behavioral health services preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills required; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people and be a team player.
- Ability to handle multiple-line phone system and busy waiting room simultaneously.
- Ability to adhere to strict client confidentiality standards and policies.
- Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
- When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEU’s every 24 months.
Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:
- Assists with monitoring and maintaining client’s behaviors
- Recognize and respond appropriately to crisis situations.
- Delivers excellent customer service in the manner prescribed by the company's customer service standards and takes appropriate action as necessary to clearly understand and resolve client needs, whenever possible.
- Ensures that clients are checked in and announced to appropriate staff person; Provide any necessary follow-up and ensure the client is attended to in a timely manner.
- Responsible for client filing in a timely and accurate manner via electronic records. This includes sending client filing to other departments and scanning and attaching electronic records daily.
- Obtains and enters the admission information during initial and on-going client contact according to Harbor policy.
- Monitor and document clients’ activities and provide specific information and observations of the client's needs, and behaviors, to clinical staff when necessary.
- Maintains accurate and complete appropriate clinical records and in a timely manner.
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
- Maintains courtesy and professionalism with staff and clients.
- Understands and maintains professional boundaries in client interactions.
- Responsible for the completion of all scheduled tasks, care of clients and the department.
- Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
- Must be available for back-up and emergency shift coverage as needed. Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Participates in training and development programs to enhance knowledge, skills, and personal service networks.
- Completes initial and annual Relias Trainings.
- May provide billable services and may have to fulfill or exceed unit expectations established by Harbor.
- May float to other locations to accommodate client or agency need.
- Accepts and completes other duties as assigned.
