Psychiatric Nurse - LPN - Contingent

Harbor is looking for a Psychiatric Nurse - LPN who delivers care to clients with mental health and/or substance abuse diagnoses utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, interventions, and implementation. Effectively interact with clients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

Position is contingent (per diem).

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

• An Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing with a current L.P.N. license in Ohio.
• Two years’ experience working in psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
• CPR/BLS and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.

Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:

1. Nurses may work at all Harbor sites but will have a site of primary responsibility. Responsibility for a site includes the following:

1. reviews and updates treatment plans for clients receiving pharmacologic management services;
2. orders and monitors Central Pharmacy medications;
3. coordinating insurance forms and pre-certifications as necessary;
4. enters prescribed medication into medication module;
5. completes quarterly checks of first aid boxes, bloodborne pathogen kits and maintenance of medical equipment; amount of time necessary to manage a site will be determined by supervisor and the nurse managing the site.

1.  Provides medication management of clients through:

1. medication management appointments;
2. dispensing medication samples or Central Pharmacy medications;
3. collaborating with other medical and clinical team members on an ongoing basis.

1. Responsible for managing medication rooms, maintaining records of medication use and disposing of expired medications.
2. When necessary, assists other clinical staff with crisis intervention and pre-hospital screening.
3. Provides referral/linkage of client to appropriate resources.
4. Completes the required number of peer review forms.
5. Completes all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
6. Types clinical documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor.
7. Provides support for providers by initiating lab requests and coordinating completion of patient medical documentation requests.
8. In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
9. Attends meetings as required and serves on committees as requested.
