Product Manager, Product Design & Manufacturing

What You'll Be Doing

As a Product Manager on our team, you will leverage your knowledge of product engineering/ prototyping/ manufacturing/ project management to act as an extension of our clients teams, managing the commercialization of their physical products as a fractional resource to our clients. You will work work with our client's internal teams, Harbor's internal project teams, and our vendors to achieve their new product development and/or manufacturing goals. This job includes creating detailed work plans, working to define product goals and requirements, and coordinating with our engineering, prototyping, supply chain, assembly, and logistics teams who are doing their part to assist those clients in bringing their physical devices to life.  Product Managers help guide clients and internal teams, through various projects, in evaluating options and executing on goals from early stage research and development through mass production. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities include

• Define the scope of projects associated with your assigned products in collaboration with internal teams and senior management
• Assist team with the creation of a detailed work plan for each project which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete projects
• Determine the resources (engineering team members, competitive quotes from vendors, labor time estimates, cost of materials, equipment, etc.) required to complete a projects product goals
• Work with department teams to execute on product goals (engineering team, sourcing team, quality team, manufacturing team)
• Develop or assist in the development of a scope of work for engineering services or quote for production and look for opportunities to provide increased value and engagement with clients
• Develop a timeline for each projects completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
• Manage product goals to ensure milestones are achieved on time with the appropriate resource
  
• Develop forms and records to document and manage products requirements
• Monitor the progress of the products development or manufacturing and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful launch of the product
• Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization and customers on the progress of the products development 
• Manage all project funds associated with the products according to established accounting policies and procedures triggering billing events to customers and payments to vendors in alignment with project expectations 

Who You Are

• Someone who has at least 4 years of Program, Project, or Product Management experience 
• You hold a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (preferred)
• You have product design experience and/or experience in contract manufacturing 
• You have experience in vendor negotiations, competitive bidding, and budgeting 
• You prioritize attention to detail and thrive on knowledge
• You are able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public in a professional courtesy manner
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form
• You have knowledge of Microsoft office with proficiency in Excel; ERP or order processing systems, and project management tools like Gantt charts
  
• You have a strong understanding of Quality Assurance principals and a working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (i.e. ISO 9001/ ISO 13485)
• You have a basic understanding of accounting and strong attention to detail as it pertains to project budgets
