Full-Time Position

Harbor House of Central Florida is looking for a passionate and experienced individual to step into a crucial role as a Domestic Violence Child Welfare Advocate. This is a unique opportunity to serve as a consultant for child welfare staff and community partners, working to enhance the safety of survivors and their children while holding batterers accountable in domestic violence cases. You will be co-located with a Department of Children and Families (DCF) Child Protective Investigations (CPI) Unit, overseeing Orange County child welfare cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a consultant and advocate, enhancing the safety of survivors and children in domestic violence situations.
  • Collaborate with DCF's Child Protective Investigations Unit to manage and support child welfare cases involving domestic violence.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and case management services to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including public speaking and facilitating training related to domestic violence and child welfare.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of programs and practices through training and the application of best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
  • In-depth knowledge of intimate partner violence, child protective investigations, and the dependency court process.
  • Strong case management skills, with the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
  • Proficient in public speaking, with the confidence to facilitate training and engage with community partners.
  • Intermediate computer skills are required.
  • Must attend a 3-day training to become CORE certified before working with survivors.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of service management experience, preferably in a domestic violence program, law enforcement, or a related victim advocate program.
  • Training in the Safe & Together model for child welfare cases is preferred.
