Position Scope:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 07-18. Adheres to Nursing Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures, the Nurse Practice Act, and maintains patient safety.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Monitors, reports, and documents the residents’ behavior and physiological status.
- Administers medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures.
- Guides the response to residents who are behaviorally out of control or who may be experiencing a medical or behavioral crisis in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Medical Staff with delineated privileges and Physician.
- Responsible for demonstrating clinical competence in the delivery of direct patient care and the implementation of the milieu management program.
- Reports accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents both medically and psychiatrically.

Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
- 1 years of supervisory/leadership experience preferred
- Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or have a multi-state license
- Prefer 1-3 years of experience with adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program
- Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations.
- Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
