Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 34-bed Memory Support Unit.
We are seeking a highly qualified, Assisted Living/ Memory Support Sales Counselor to join our team to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidates for this salaried/exempt position will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population.
The Assisted Living/Memory Support Sales Counselor is responsible for developing outside marketing strategies to partner with local professionals to gain referrals to Harbor’s Edge.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing Strategies:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in the overall marketing and event strategy to gain awareness in the Norfolk community that Harbor’s Edge allows for direct admission to ALMS without having to sign a Life Care agreement. A variety of marketing strategies are used including digital marketing campaigns, social media engagement, phone, or email marketing, print advertising, presentations, on and off-site marketing seminars/events, and community outreach initiatives are utilized 50% of the time.
Marketing Direct Admissions:
One of the primary objectives of the ALMS Sales Counselor is to drive direct admissions to our new Assisted Living and Memory Support apartment suites. This involves building relationships with potential residents and their families and/or representatives, conducting facility tours, providing detailed information about the services and amenities offered, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Will be responsible to present and execute the admission documents in compliance with internal policies and health regulations as well as assist in the development of policies and procedures related to admissions and transfer of residents.
Relationship Building:
The ALMS Sales Counselor is responsible to establish and nurture effective relationships with local healthcare professionals including physicians, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, community agencies, and other senior services providers. By maintaining strong connections within the healthcare community, the ALMS Sales Counselor can generate referrals and increase awareness of Harbor's Edge Retirement Community as a trusted and reliable option for assisted living and memory support.
Budgeted Occupancy Levels:
Maintaining budgeted occupancy levels is a key objective for the ALMS Sales Counselor. This requires the ability to diligently track and analyze occupancy rates, identify potential areas of improvement, and implement strategies to attract and retain residents. The ALMS Sales Counselor will work closely with the marketing team and management to ensure that occupancy goals are met and provide weekly and monthly reports (Marketing Plans, Competitive Analysis, Occupancy Reports, etc.) Additionally, this position is responsible to respond to inquiries and walk-ins as well as meet sales and occupancy goals established by department management.
By utilizing various marketing strategies, building relationships with healthcare professionals, and focusing on maintaining budgeted occupancy levels, the ALMS Sales Counselor contributes to the success and growth of our community.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of rental sales work experience in Assisted Living and Memory Support in Continuing Care Retirement Community for least 50 apartments.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s license (and liability insurance) to use personal vehicle for marketing travel.
- High credibility with various referral sources.
- Sales experience in Assisted Living and/or Memory Support. Strong sales and marketing skills, specific to Lifecare (CCRC) and or healthcare environment with working knowledge of the local market and competitive practices. AL sales background and ALF license preferred. Nursing applicants are welcome (RN, LPN).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Strategic thinker with excellent multi-tasking abilities and experienced in successfully supporting customers through the move-in process.
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrate high initiative, and ability to work independently.
- Presents as polished and professional at all times, consistently representing Harbor’s Edge well.
- Demonstrates high level of critical thinking, organizational, and time management skills.
- Sales management and tracking systems skills and computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
