Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 34-bed Memory Support Unit.
We are seeking a highly qualified, experienced part-time (3:30pm-10:30pm Thursday-Sunday) Floor technician to join our team to deliver excellent services for our residents and staff. The ideal candidate will clean and service floors and carpets throughout the facilities on a daily basis, following all quality care, service standards, and safety protocols. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population.

Responsibilities
- Clean and services floors and carpets throughout the facilities on a daily basis, to include sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, and maintaining a variety of types of flooring.
- Remove trash and other debris inside the facility and around the facility grounds.
- Clean and prepares vacant rooms for occupancy.
- Provide deep cleaning to private residences.
- Maintain equipment and supplies and promptly reports malfunctions and discrepancies to the Manager of Housekeeping.
- Maintain utility rooms in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Assist with other housekeeping functions as assigned and/or required.
- Maintain a respectful and courteous demeanor with all residents, guests, visitors, co-workers, and management.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma/GED
- Floor care skills and experience desired
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a skilled nursing care facility or other related healthcare environment, which meets or exceeds high quality care and service standards.
- Working knowledge of floor cleaning supplies and equipment, following all safety guidelines and infection control policies.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather events
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and timely.
- Effectively communicate with all personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public demonstrating excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
- Strong desire to work in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational, and time management skills, and model Service Excellence.
- Current COVID-19 Vaccine and Booster is required to support the health and safety of our residents and staff.
- Effective communication with all personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public demonstrating excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. Demonstrate engaging and positive demeanor.
- Able to exert a minimum of 50 lbs. of energy in order to assist elderly in and out of wheelchairs, beds, etc., as well as be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel, balance, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls, reach over the head, push/pull, and grasp with both hands. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
